Machined from rugged aerospace aluminum, the optional MRDS Shroud is designed to protect the MRDS during combat. The military specifications require that the shroud protect the MRDS when mounted atop an ACOG sight on a fully loaded M4 carbine and dropped from 1 meter directly on to the Shroud. The Shroud will also work in conjunction with all L-3 Insight Technology MRDS Mounts. Extended mounting screws designed for use with the Shroud are already provided with the MRDS.
